In the summer of 2016, Primrose started to suffer from abdominal pain which got worse. It wasn’t until September that Prim received the awful diagnosis that she had terminal bowel cancer. Our world fell apart. We were then introduced to CLIC Sargent (now Young Lives vs Cancer) who helped us every step along the way during the journey of the following 15 months.
Primrose was a beautiful, fun-loving young woman who had everything to live for. She’d just finished working a ski season in France and was due to start her teacher training, life couldn’t be better. Prim started to get abdominal pain and was diagnosed with terminal bowel cancer in 2016. Prim made the most of every day of her short life. She wrote a bucket list and in between some really rough spells, she gradually ticked off her wish list. Primrose was supported throughout her life with cancer by her amazing Young Lives vs Cancer social worker, Rachel. Rachel helped Prim to make the most of every day with advice, support and help to find small grants to support her adventures.
Prim went on holidays to France and Portugal, had a fabulous trip to London and got married in the eighteen months that she lived after her diagnosis. Primrose died just before Christmas in 2017, aged just 24. We miss Primrose so much and our lives will never be the same without her.
We had excellent support from Rachel and she continues to help us as we learn to live the best lives we can without Prim. Prim has inspired us to take on several challenges and we are committed to giving something back to Young Lives vs Cancer so that this amazing charity can help other young people with cancer and their families.
