Our Story
Eoin Henry, who grew up in Kilrea in Co Derry tragically lost his battle with cancer on the 14th May 2017 at the young age of 20. His parents set up The Eoin Henry Foundation who continue to fundraise to support Young Lives vs Cancer & others.
Eoin was diagnosed with cancer in 2016 after initially seeing doctors in September 2015 about pains in his lower abdomen, he reacted positively to chemotherapy. However, when asked to return within three months for check-ups, he discovered that the cancer had come back. He fought the whole thing and he never complained about it. He encouraged other people with illnesses to fight on. It just got to the point where his body wasn't allowing him to fight on any more. We got him home and I'm so glad we did. He passed away on Sunday with me, his mum & his girlfriend at his side.
Eoin was mad about kids, like a magnet they got so attached - he played with them and when he was going through chemo he wasn't allowed too and it broke him. Knowing he could never be a father was a pain he couldn't get over.
He didn't want to leave us - he only cried 3 times with us, he stayed so strong but he always asked 'what had he done wrong'? He will always live on in the memories of everyone he touched. Even now people that haven't met him feel they know him because of the legacy we have created as a family.
He was an absolutely lovely wee fella who would have done anything for you. He loved his family and his friends. As a family we want to keep Eoin's memory alive #teameoin
We keep his memory alive raising funds with The Eoin Henry Foundation. Eoin loved his fast cars and before he died he had a vision of what his 'gold' would look like. We continued on with his dream and made it a reality and now show the car at various Car Shows throughout the UK & ROI.
Our aim with this fund is to allow us as a family to know how much of a support we are to Young Lives vs Cancer, a charity very close to our hearts as their support to us was very much needed.
