Our Story
Brooke was devastatingly diagnosed with a brain tumour aged just 6 in 2011. She battled life threatening surgery and 3 further major operations, chemotherapy and the side effects/fatigue that comes with such a horrible illness with nothing but positivity and a smile and a determination to get on with her life as normally as possible. Unfortunately in June 2018 we were dealt the heart-breaking news that her tumour was growing again aggressively and further treatment was needed. Brooke’s physical health had deteriorated quite badly and with only a few days notice the whole family Dad Gary, Mum Kirsty, Brooke and her little sister Skye, headed to Jacksonville Florida for a long course of proton therapy treatment.
On the 14th October 2019, our precious daughter Brooke Chloe Jardine, went to heaven to be one of God's angels. She fought this devastating illness since January 2011 with unbelievable courage and determination and with every ounce of energy she had, but this latest setback had just been a battle she could not win.
Brooke was the most beautiful, loving, caring, brave and intelligent girl we could ever have asked for and we have been privileged to have been able to call her our daughter and sister. She has been a very much loved grandchild, niece, cousin and friend to so many. She will never be forgotten - go and dance with the angels darling.
In September 2021, as part of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and as a tribute to Brooke's birthday; Gary, Kirsty and Skye took part in Challenge 60 for Young Lives vs Cancer (each running 2 miles a day for 30 days) raising £3000.
In November 2022, we ran the New York Marathon in aid of Young Lives vs Cancer. Previously known as CLIC Sargent, it is an amazing charity which provided incredible and invaluable emotional and financial support during Brooke’s long battle. An incredible £13,000 was raised through this, with special thanks to everyone's donations and fundraising, as well as being the chosen charity for the Scottish Passengers Associations Awards in 2022.
Every penny we've raised will go towards helping the charity support other children and young adults and their families with the incredible support to help them in their individual battles.
