Arthurs Story

Arthur Rafferty Sach is a car obsessed two year old and our shining star. Unfortunately on 20th September 2022 our world fell apart when Arthur was diagnosed with Mature B Cell Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (NHL) a very rare and aggressive cancer. Arthur had tumours throughout his chest and abdomen including his liver, lungs, spleen, kidneys and bowel. Since then Arthur has been through rigorous chemotherapy and has undergone numerous blood transfusions, platelet transfusions and has had two serious infections in his bowel.

Now after 7 and a half rounds of chemotherapy Arthur is in remission and has settled back into his everyday activities such as nursery etc. He will continue to be monitored with regular scans for the foreseeable future. Arthur has been an absolute soldier throughout his treatment and never failed to smile every day. He has been, and continues to be, a hero and an inspiration to his family and friends.

Whilst all of this was taking place Young Lives vs Cancer (YLVC) were a beacon of light to our family. Initially in Addenbrookes Hospital and then at Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham, YLVC were a lifeline to us. Throughout Arthur's treatment they continued to provide a friendly face and a listening ear, as well as financial support and even a place to stay in the form of Billy's house.

Billy's house was a home from home for us and meant that at the end of a long day in hospital we had a safe and welcoming place to stay. I'm not sure we could have got through these last few months without the support of Young Lives vs Cancer.

We hope that by raising money for Young Lives Vs Cancer now and going forward we can help future 'Arthur's' and their families to have the same support that we have had.

Arthur's proud parents Nick and Lucy Sach xx
